[June silicon metal production] According to SMM market exchanges, the silicon metal production in June 2025 was 327,700 mt, up 6.5% MoM and down 27.7% YoY. The cumulative silicon metal production from January to June 2025 was 1.8728 million mt, down 17.8% YoY.

SMM News on July 2: According to SMM market exchanges, silicon metal production in June 2025 was 327,700 mt, up 6.5% MoM and down 27.7% YoY. The cumulative silicon metal production from January to June 2025 was 1.8728 million mt, down 17.8% YoY.

The MoM increase in silicon metal production in June was mainly driven by Sichuan, Xinjiang, and Yunnan regions. Production from some resumed capacities in Xinjiang increased MoM. Sichuan entered the rainy season in June, and a small number of silicon enterprises resumed production, but production was constrained by enterprise losses. Sichuan's June production increased MoM but decreased 38% YoY. Yunnan was still in the transitional period from the dry season to rainy season, with two newly launched projects among its operating enterprises. Yunnan's June production increased MoM but decreased 73% YoY. Additionally, production in Gansu, Inner Mongolia, and other regions decreased MoM due to maintenance at some silicon enterprises.

It is expected that silicon metal production in Sichuan and Yunnan regions will continue to increase in July. Yunnan will enter the rainy season, and some silicon enterprises in Baoshan and other areas have plans to resume and expand production. It is estimated that the MoM increase will be around 10,000 mt, and the growth rate of Sichuan's production will slow down. Most silicon enterprises in north China have basically stable operations, with large enterprises accounting for a significant proportion of capacity and uncertainties in production increases or decreases. The uncertainty of silicon metal production in July is high, and attention should be paid to the operational dynamics of large enterprises.

Before the holiday, the black chain is unlikely to see a trend-driven market [SMM Steel Industry Chain Weekly Report].
This week, ferrous metals were in the doldrums, with coking coal and coke staging a mid-week rise. At the beginning of the week, financial markets experienced sharp fluctuations, dragging down sentiment in the ferrous chain and leading to a pullback in futures. Mid-week, Indonesia's cut to coke production quotas drove coking coal and coke futures to lead the gains, though the impact was more pronounced on thermal coal, while coking coal's rise was largely sentiment-driven and short-lived. In the latter part of the week, finished products continued their seasonal inventory buildup, and support from the raw material side weakened, causing the entire ferrous chain to pull back. In the spot market, with the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, purchasing activity slowed down further, with end-users only making limited, as-needed purchases at low prices.
